customers. We have hundreds of thousands of customers
and riders every single day on our trains and we thank you for your participation. [Announcer] The state Public Utilities Commission,
January 17th, confirmed the first 10-car train.
Thats after years of public input from
more than 40-thousand riders, 29-hundred modifications to the pilot cars, 20-thousand hours of training
for train operators and technicians, 75-thousand pilot car miles, 56-hundred and three pages
of safety analysis, 382 completed qualification tests. [Grace Crunican] Im exuberant. I mean this is just really exciting. Weve been waiting for a while, but I think
the cars will really up the riders comfort.
[Announcer] BART riders will now get their
first taste of state of the art and long awaited improvements. A ride that is smoother and quieter than ever
before. [Passenger] I like it. I like it.
[Announcer] Quicker on and off egress with
six doors per car which will reduce travel time. [Passenger] Ive literally like been bragging
to my friends. Weve been like obsessing over the new cars. Im very excited.
[Announcer] Six digital screens per car that
show you where you are and the next stop. [Passenger] Seats are way more comfortable,
its less howling. Less like a banshee (laughing). [Announcer] More places to hold on if you
dont get a seat.
[Train Operator] Enjoy the environmentally
friendly, faster, quieter and more comfortable ride. Thank you for riding BART. [Announcer] BARTs fleet of the future is
now transporting passengers in the Bay Area. At MacArthur Station, Mark Jones reporting..
