Preview New Single-Level Long Distance Cars

Preview New Single-Level Long Distance Cars
Joe Boardman: We're here in Elmira, New York in the CAF
faciliy where they are building a 130 cars for Amtrak. Where over 400 people have been employed. This project is important not just to Amtrak,
it's also important to our economy in the United States. Tom Santulli: CAF is a classic example of just what
we need to do in this community.

It's been terrific for our economy.
They're building a product for Amtrak, which is nationally known, and what that has done for this community, it's taken us to a new level. Everything that is manufactured for this
project for Amtrak is done right here in
Chemung County, in the city of Elmira and and it's exactly what we need. Joe Boardman: We have suppliers, over 125 suppliers across the United States, in ninety three cities and we ourselves today, really find the ability to affect the economy in every small town that we operate in. Tom Carper: On a national level it's important because it's going into the system the really ties the country together.

The Northeast Corridor, it's obvious what
it does between Boston and Washington, DC., It's critical. But it is the long distance service that
ties all that together. That's what we're here to do. Andres Arizkorreta: We are really proud to present to the public, to the passenger these new cars.

Really we are proud of
them. I think that for a long distance passenger they are the best cars we have produced. Joe Boardman: We have 130 cars in construction here right now and we have them broken-down very specifically for what we want to do,
because most to these cars are really going to be used in the Eastern long-distance routes. 25
Of them being diners, 25 of them being bag/dorm car, and 25 of them being sleepers.

You're
gonna see upgraded material which is easier to
maintain, but also in a lot of ways and I've been
through the cars today, are more comfortable than what we had in the past.
We are really excited about what we're going to give our passengers. Open space and better lighting and a lot
of the lights were using today are LED. Lights so they'll last a lot longer and maintenance costs will be lower.

Amtrak has an investment being made in long-distance trains.
Amtrak America, we connect across this country for the future of its employees, for the
future of those that want to ride Amtrak.  .
